i started to read Jane Austen with Pride and Prejudice
after i saw a cinematographic adaptation in the early 80'ies
my favourite novel is Persuasion
& i'm waiting for a good film along this piece of literature
although the existing film is not bad, so it's not subtle enough to catch this novel's depth
Amanda Root is a little too scared & too suffering for my taste
just Ciaran Hinds gleams here ... oh i forgot Mrs. Smith!
the best film is surely the last BBS adaptation of Pride and Prejudice
with Jennifer Ehle as Elisabeth Bennett & Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy
i can't imagine there can be ever a better one
ein wink fuer alle deutschsprachigen fans,
schaut euch auf jeden fall die englische originalFassung an,
es lohnt sich!
nicht nur, dass die originalStimmen um etliches besser sind, besonders die von Elisabeth
sondern der film ist auch um viele wichtige szenen reicher,
die deutsche fassung ist schaendlich gekuerzt!
was ich besonders amuesant finde sind die vielen forsetzungen geschrieben von Austen suechtigen fans
da die autorin waehrend ihres verhaeltnismaessig kurzen lebens nur sechs vollendete romane hinterliess
ist die sehnsucht nach mehr verstaendlich
ich habe Sanditon & Lady Susan versucht zu lesen, aber es doch vorerst aufgegeben
die stories sind nicht vollendet & leider merkt man das auch
